I'm AJ! The illustrator behind Amelina Jones Illustrations, I am an illustrator and storyteller from the south of England, with a focus on children's literature.

 

Growing up, I would always create stories with my siblings and draw all the characters from those adventures. I love working on picture books as well as illustrations for middle-grade fiction; falling into each story and seeing them come alive on my paper will always be my favourite part of my work. When it comes to me, here are a few things I love outside of painting: Reading, Tintin, Jane Goodall, and all types of fantasy being some of my favourites. I also love drinking herbal teas,  walking around museums, learning about botany, studying wildlife conservation and watching science fiction  (particularly the 80s/90s Star Trek).

I work on detailed, colourful paintings to enhance and help tell a story. I strive to capture a wide range of emotions, ages, nationalities, and nature in my illustrations. Watercolour, coloured pencils and ink are my preferred media, as I love the freedom they give me and the natural textures and energy they exude through the paper.
